Back on Track

This was my last day of a consuming job I held over the past months as a copywriter for a German online-casino. The reason? My creative style and ideas didn't fit the conservative "in your face" promotions the management prefers. At first they liked my witty, fresh approach over their generic one and complimented. But clients probably don't get the humor. Most older Germans seem to lack this playful ingredient. Unfortunately the management didn't show enough courage to go for something modern to attract younger people. And I wasn't really willing to waste away writing boring cliches with the same stale vocabulary over and over. I truly hate producing uninspired stuff to please the mass-market. So I didn't really fit in and there was some envy and intrigue within the team and that was that. As a designer I like to create 'visual images', also when I write copy. Instead of a dull description there should be a story or a specific emotion attributed to the product. That's what I look for, when I generate ideas. Anyway, today I said good bye to my fellow-workers by posting a horror collage in the spirit of Halloween in their Facebook group. It shows a character from a popular slot-game called "Gonzo's Quest" and my poor self being sucked into the roulette-wheel. In a casino you may win a little, but mostly you lose, if you don't stay true and connected to yourself.
