The Woman Who Disobeyed
Purim (a kind of Jewish carneval, when everyone gets dressed up) is near and I'm busy creating Purim themed greeting gards. In honor of today's International Women's Day I want to say cheers to Queen Vashti, the feminist heroine of the biblical Purim story, who refused to dance naked in front of her drunk husband Achashverosh, King of Persia.
Vashti paid with her life for not giving in to sexual haressment in those dark times, even in today's Trump aera she would probably
be considered a "nasty woman". The story goes on and those of you who are not familiar with it, there's a happy ending thanks to another woman, Queen Esther. I don't want'to get into this right now, but wish all you brave, "nasty" women a long fulfilling life, amen!
